Making baby blanket and hats for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

During Lockdown Aimee a Funeral Director for Walker and Morrell taught herself to crochet. Aimee decided to use this new skill to make burial garments for babies born asleep. The blankets and hats will be distributed to local hospitals including Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead and Sunder Royal Hospital for Baby Loss Awareness Week. Walker and Morrell will also be keeping some of the items to donate to families of sleeping babies.

The reaction from the local community has been overwhelming with a large number of donations of both wool and knitted/ crocheted items. All these items will benefit many families whose babies were born asleep.
