On Saturday 1st June Receptionist Dorothy Turnbull represented Walker and Morrell (Houghton le Spring and Washington branches) at the Houghton-le-Spring bunting launch parade. The event is organised by Houghton Traders Association of which Dorothy is a member.
Dorothy joined the parade, led by dancers from Zazz Theatre Ltd which started outside The Old Rectory at 11am and proceeded down Newbottle Street to the Nutmeg Tree cafe. It was here that the Deputy Mayor Elect of Sunderland Councillor Harry Trueman and Deputy Mayoress Elect Councillor Dorothy Trueman officially launched the Houghton Bunting.
Dorothy is an active member of the local community, regularly taking part in and supporting community events. Walker & Morrell are also supporting the Nutmeg Tree by buying their delicious ‘Flaming cakes’ in aid of The Fire Fighters charity.
A thank you email sent to Dorothy by Tony Carlin, one of the parades organisers, highlights the positive impact her contribution has made.
Tony said: “Thank you for advising me of the support available from your organisation and I know we can continue to work together on this through your officers position on the Houghton Traders Association where you have shown you can always be relied upon
You warmly greeted me into your office when I first called to see you, and I have seen your similar impact on many others since, just what we need to encourage others to join our growing group of traders. You are a real asset in Houghton.”
