Community Activities
Natalie from Walker & Morrell Funeral Directors joined members of the church, local community support group and volunteers for an evening of bingo, a tombola and raffle, with all prizes generously donated by local businesses, group members and colleagues.
More than 100 people gathered at the Keel Boat Community Pub in Washington to support a fundraising event for Holy Trinity Church, helping to raise an incredible £2,078.52 towards the church’s new kitchen.
The fundraiser reflects the strong community spirit that has grown from a bereavement support group established alongside Holy Trinity Church in 2025. Meeting monthly, the group provides a safe and welcoming space for people experiencing loss to share their experiences, support one another and build lasting friendships.
Speaking about her involvement, Natalie said: “Seeing people who have been through such difficult times forming friendships and finding comfort in one another is incredibly rewarding. It’s wonderful to see people able to smile, laugh and enjoy being part of a supportive community.”
The event brought together people from all walks of life, demonstrating how community initiatives can create connections, reduce isolation and make a lasting difference. Thanks to the efforts of everyone involved, the evening was a huge success and a fantastic contribution towards an important local project.
